In search of Wisconsin's lake monsters: a photographic essay
For the last several months I have been researching the mythical creatures said to lurk within the lakes of Wisconsin. While I don't personally believe that anything truly bizarre lives in the Dairy State's myriad aquatic places, there is a romanticism to the idea. Cryptozoology lets us imagine wildly at what might be, taking us away from the rigidity of scientific fact into fiction.
While I was in Wisconsin in the summer of 2024, I wandered along the shores of some of its lakes, hoping that I might catch sight of one of these mythical denizens of the deep. Alas, I was unlucky, but maybe next year.
